Best Mileage Reward Card: Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express
|

|
Frequent Flyer's Most Favorite Credit Card
In many of the frequent flyer forums, a favorite topic is on finding the single
best mileage credit card. The conclusion has always been the Starwood Preferred
Guest Credit Card from American Express. It's interesting this card is not widely
known. I learned about this card too in the frequent flyer forums. The
Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card earns you more miles than any other card,
and with one of the lowest annual fee.
- No Annual Fee first year
($30 annual fee after first year)
- Earn 1 Starpoint for every dollar charged
- Transfer points to over 25 major airline mileage programs
- 5,000 Bonus Points when you transfer 20,000 points to miles
(20,000 Starpoints => 25,000 Miles!)
- Best Value Guarantee, Return Protection benefits
- Get Up to 6,000 Bonus Points(with hotel stays)
Points to Miles Conversion
The Starwood Preferred Guest program is an frequent guest program in which you
can accumulate Starpoints for free hotel stays at luxury hotels such as Westin,
W Hotel, Sheraton, St. Regis and more. One amazing feature of this program is
you can redeem your Starpoints for miles of over 25 major mileage programs(AA,
UA, USAir, Delta, Northwest, Alaska.. you name it). Most exchange
rates are 1-to-1 with no penalty and no fee. The minimum number of points to
transfer each time is 2500 points. It gets even better when you transfer 20,000
Starpoints to miles, because you will get a 5000 miles bonus. Essentially,
20,000 Starpoints would get you 25,000 miles! It's not surprising Starwood
Preferred Guest program has been awarded the Freddie Award in the best award
category. This category honors a Freddie to the points to miles conversion which
has become popular among Preferred Guest members.
Highest Mileage Earning Power, Lowest Annual Fee
With every $1 charged with the Card, you earn one Starpoint. Since 20,000 Starpoints
can get you 25,000 miles, that means your earning power is basically
1.25 miles/dollar! There is no annual fee for the first year, and it
is just $30 thereafter! There simply isn't any other card that can beat
this level of earning power or the annual fee. That makes this the most wanted
mileage credit card!
Redeem Starpoints for free nights
Redeem Starpoints for free hotel stays is also a smart thing to do,
which you can do online and the process is very easy. There is no blackout dates or capacity controls for hotel redemptions! This is a BIG plus as you might
find sometimes redeeming miles/points may become a frustrating experience due
to all the blackout dates and availability restrictions. Use points for free
hotel stays also make economic sense. For example, a $180/night hotel room would
cost 7000 points per night, that translates to a value of 2.5 cents
per point! (Compare that to miles, valued ~1.5 cents per mile) Free
nights starting as low as 2,000 Starpoints.
Complimentary membership in SPG Preferred Plus
This is a new level of Starwood Preferred Guest, that offers: 1) Complimentary upgrades to a preferred room at check-in, when available; 2) 4pm late checkout; 3) Free weekday newspaper. If you are not yet a Starwood Preferred Guest member you will automatically be enrolled upon approval of your credit card application.
Exclusive
Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card Benefits:
* Best Value Guarantee - 60-day low price guarantee
on your purchases!
* Return Protection
- 90-day return guarantee for full purchase price upto $300 per item!
* Purchase Protection - 90-day insurance on items you buy against
for accidental damage to or theft
* Buyer's Assurance
Plan Extends the manufacturer's warranty on many items for up to
one additional year.
* Purchase Protection Plan Receive coverage for damaged or stolen
purchases - at no additional charge
* Car Rental Loss
and Damage Insurance Simply decline the rental company's full Collision
Damage Waiver
The most important benefit here is Best Value Guarantee. With
this benefit, if buy something and find the same item for less up to 60 days
later and they will refund you the difference. (up to $250 per item, up to $1000
per year) As long as you have a dated advertisement of the better price, it
works and it's easy. Many people try to get this card simply because of the
Best Value Guarantee benefit. The process of requesting a pricematch
refund is really simple. Call 1-800-557-8317. You will be given a claim
number. Mail in or Fax a copy of the receipt and dated advertisement of the
better price. You will receive a refund check in two weeks.
This card is truely the best! I tried to apply for this card three times over
a 2 year period, and finally I am approved of this card. Now, I can cancel some
of the high annual fee cards, and this is the one I will keep for a long time
to come. If you are not yet a Starwood Preferred Guest member, don't worry.
When you are approved, you will be automatically given an Starwood Preferred
Guest membership number, which would be linked with your new Starwood Preferred
Guest Credit Card.
You can apply for this card online and start earning
reward points today!

Earn up to 20,000 Starwood points when opening an Ameritrade account
|

|
Starwood Preferred Guest program is the best especially if you want to earn free hotel stays at Starwood's luxurious hotels.
Unfortunately, there aren't too many opportunities to earn bonus starpoints. In addition to signing up the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card to earn some bonus points, here is another great way to get bonus starpoints.
When opening an Ameritrade account, a Starwood Preferred Guest may earn(a):
3,000 Starpoints for an account opened with a minimum of $2,000
10,000 Starpoints for an account opened with a minimum of $10,000
20,000 Starpoints for an account opened with a minimum of $25,000
(You need to keep the fund in there for at least 6 months)
Additionally, Starwood Preferred Guest members can choose to convert Starpoints into airline miles. As a special benefit, members receive a 5,000-mile bonus when they convert 20,000 Starpoints to airline miles. That's 25,000 miles -- enough for a free domestic U.S. ticket on most major participating airlines.
However, starpoints are best used for hotel stays at Starwood hotels. There is no blackout dates or availability restrictions! 3000 points can get you a $100/night room.

United, Delta also have similar offers.
$1000 minimum initial deposit, 3000 miles
$5000 minimum initial deposit, 9000 miles
$50000 minimum initial deposit, 25000 miles
If you are only going to make $1000 or $5000 deposit, United or Delta's Ameritrade offer is better. If you're able to make $25000 deposit, Starwood's offer is better.
